Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica) hitch a ride on a large blue iceberg in the Southern Ocean. Blue icebergs like this are created by glaciers that break apart and spawn off icebergs of different sizes. While in the glacier, the ice near the bottom is compressed by the ice above it and the ice crystals are realigned in such a way that when light shines through the ice, all the colors accept for blue are absorbed.
