A Blackbrowed Albatross (Diomedea melanophris) takes off from the cliffs on New Island in the Falkland Island. With a wing span of almost 10 feet, these birds need a strong wind to lift them into the air, so they build their nests on windy cliff sides like this one. With a circumpolar range, Blackbrows can often be seen looking for a free meal behind ships passing through the Southern Ocean.
