| A greater Flamingo
(Phoenicopterus ruber) filters the briny waters of a shallow
lagoon. Flamingos have a series of plates in their mouths that
enable them to filter food from the water. To do this, they
walk through the water stirring up the bottom with their feet
and filtering with their bills. |
