A male Frigate bird (Frigata sp.) soars overhead with its gular pouch partially inflated. These aggressive birds are spectacular to watch in the air as they soar overhead or harass boobies to take their food. The red gular pouch can be filled with air and is used to attract females in the spring. The male will find a site, put together a loose bunch of sticks and call it a nest. Then as the females fly in close for a look, the males spread their wings, ruffle their feathers, puff up their pouch and throw their heads back while giving their most impressive call.
