A Marine iguana (Amblyrhyncus cristatus) cools itself in the hot sun by rising up on its legs to let air pass under its body and aligning its body to minimize the impact of the sun. In the morning they will need the sun to warm them so they can go feed, but on exceptionally hot days, they must find ways to keep from overheating. The colors on this iguana indicate that it is from Espanola island (Hood).
