A new born Marine iguana (Amblyrhyncus cristatus) tentatively peers over the top of an adult. Hatchlings are easy prey for many birds and snakes, so it's easy to understand why this little one might be a bit cautious. If it can survive the first year or so, its chances improve dramatically and can reach maximum length of about 4 feet.
