A Galapagos penguin (Spheniscus mendiculus) stands out against dark lava. If they feel threatened, they will sometimes turn their back to the water which make them very hard to spot. Though they seem out of place in such a warm environment, these birds have adapted to heat of the equator and make a good living in the rich waters of the Galapagos.
